We're Eco-Centric
Since it's inception the Pace Invaders has been committed to lessening our impact on the environment. Whenever we can, we try to incorporate the environment in our fundraisers and lives. We began by selling fluorescent energy saving light bulbs, paper waste collection bags, and we continue to collect used ink cartridges and cellphones with Think Recycle.
This year, we're taking it a step further and making our own school more environmentally friendly. We hope to get the "Green Bins" in our school to recycle organic compost, replace old computer systems with more energy efficient models, install on demand hot water system, and even convert 1 of our 3 buildings to be self sustained using solar panels.
Go Big, or Go Home
The world championship in Atlanta has always been a goal for us and every year we've come closer to it, this year we're going all out!
There are a couple ways for us to go to the world championship. The first being, winning a regionals! This year the Pace Invaders are competing in the Waterloo, and Toronto Regionals; giving us more practice, and more chances.
Winning certain awards also grants us a shot at the championship. Awards like the Chairman Award, the most prestigious award in FIRST and is given for, "The team that best represents a model for other FRC teams to emulate and best embodies the purpose and goals of FIRST."1
A Little Goes a Long Way
The Pace Invaders actively works with Kiva Microfunds Organization because we believe everyone in the world deserves a chance. Kiva begins with a donation, small or big. This donation is then sent to a 3rd world country and given to those less fortunate, as an investment, where they will start a business. With it people, families, communities are helped and opportunities are fulfilled.
This is the Invaders way of spreading joy, fortune and being green. We choose to donate to environmentally conscious start ups. It's our way of helping the world in places we aren't even in!
